The significance of the Messiah's death and resurrection
The Messiah’s death and resurrection fulfill specific prophecies found in the TaNaKh. Yesha'yahu 53 depicts a figure “pierced for our transgressions” and “crushed for our iniquities” (Yesha'yahu 53:5). Mizmor 16:10 declares that YAH’s Set-apart One will not see decay, pointing toward a resurrection (cf. Mizmor 16:10). In the Apostolic Scriptures, these prophecies converge on Yeshua. As Sha’ul writes, “Yeshua died for our sins according to the Scriptures … that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). This alignment underscores the coherence of the biblical witness and anchors the significance of the Messiah’s death and resurrection within an ancient prophetic framework.
The prophecy of Yeshua's suffering and death is foundational to the believer’s principles and lifestyle, emphasising the belief in Yeshua as the Messiah who fulfills the prophecies as found in the TaNaKh. His sacrificial death is seen as the means of atonement for sin, offering redemption and reconciliation with YAH. The fulfillment of these prophecies is viewed as evidence of divine orchestration and the reliability of Scripture.
