Only hard work will bear fruit
Aharon and his sons are to tend it from evening until morning before יהוה – a law forever to their generations
Beyond the material and physical rewards, the fruits of labour also carry spiritual significance. In Galatians 6:9, Sha’ul exhorts believers, "And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not grow weary." This verse speaks to the spiritual harvest that results from perseverance in good works, suggesting that the ultimate fruits of labour are not only temporal but eternal.
The parable of the talents in Mattityahu 25:14-30 further illustrates the spiritual dimension of labour. The servants who diligently invest their master's resources are rewarded, while the one who fails to do so is reprimanded. This parable highlights the expectation that believers should use their abilities, given by YAH and opportunities to produce fruitful outcomes for the kingdom of YAH.
It is interesting that the Hebrew word ‘avodah’ is used for both “hard work” as well as “service to Yahweh”. All of us want to serve Yahweh, but we don’t always want to work hard, or is this statement incorrect? We love the word ‘ministry’, as it sound impressive, blessed and exciting, but we steer away from ‘service’ – the exact same word. Most of us do not like ROUTINE. It is boring, soul‐deadening. The PRIESTS, chosen by YAH to lead the nation and teach them the process of serving Yahweh, had to work every day, to the hour, and keep to a routine from which most of us would run away before even going into the tabernacle! How would we cope with the monotonous regularity of the tasks assigned to the priests: wearing the prescribed garments (Sh’mot 28:43); lighting the m’norah every morning (Sh’mot 30:7); every evening six lamps have to be doused (Sh’mot 30:8); most days required certain actions to be taken, some both morning and evening (Sh’mot 29:39). If this is what it means to serve YAH, some people would refuse. Find out what John Wahl teaches on this subject, repeated from last Shabbat and starting at 18:00.
